The New Me

I attended an event at Ceddi Plaza in Abuja called the 'Good Life'. A gathering of people that love good music and poetry. It’s a free event and all you have to do is show up. If you have talent or feel the need to share something, you are free to.

I totally enjoyed myself but my highest point was when a trumpeter performed a medley of songs that blew my mind. To top it up he gave out his own book for free. Truly amazing man, or so I thought till I read his book and found something more amazing than even him (the writer).
It's called "Crumbs" and this young man is known as "Bayo Martins". I want to share some of the interesting things I found in there.

1) IMPOSSIBLE is POSSIBLE still in the making. (Nothing is impossible for God) Luke 1:37

2) Don't underestimate "small", you'll find lots of it in "Big". Job 8:7

3) Your predominant thoughts would most likely be those you are trying not to think if you are not feeding on what you would rather be thinking. Philippians 4:8

4) Negative obsession = Addiction
Positive obsession = Focus
Hebrews 12:1

5) Life is like a movie.
The producer has given the script, it's called the "SCRIPTURES".
So, let there be:
LIGHT! (Insight from the word)
CAMERA! (pictures of the future created by speaking the word)
ACTION! (Definite deeds to actualize the desired future) Psalm 139:16

6) I've seen enough failures. I choose not to rewrite those chapters of history. Romans 15:4

7) When it comes to vision, God shows you the picture, hands you the colours and says "paint". Habakkuk 2:1-2

8) If you want people to take you seriously, don't dress unseriously. 1st Timothy 2:9

9) You already know where you are coming from. Where you are going to, is more important. Phillipians 3:13-14

10) When afraid of making mistakes, keep in mind that there was a time you couldn't even spell your name right. Joshua 1:9

11) No matter what the devil reads to you about you, read it in your own version, you'll be surprised at the contrast. Joshua 8:44

12) Sometimes walking with God is a little risky: You cross the road first before you consider taking a look right or left. Genesis 12:1

13) Listen to yourself ... Preferably before you say something. Proverbs 21:23

14) Change is a type of permanent that's temporary. 2nd Corinthians 4:18

Imagine having a 160 page book filled with inspiration, truth, and things we need as reminders everyday. I have been so excited about it that people around me are tired of hearing about it. For your own copy or other info you can check out bayormartins.blogspot.com, www.facebook.com/bayormartins

I also discovered the meaning of a few things which I was not sure of before. Forgive me for sounding like this, but truth is I am not ashamed to acknowledge the fact that I still have a lot to learn and still I'm still learning everyday.

BBE - Bible in Basic English
CEV - Contemporary English Version
ERV - Easy to Read Version
ESV - English Standard Bible
EMTV - English Majority Text Version
GNB - Good News Bible
GW - God's Word
ISV - International Standard Version
LITV - Literal translation of the Holy Bible

I knew the AMV, KJV at least.

Recently, my life took a different turn and I know that it was the perfect time that God had allocated for his will in my life to be made manifest.
He allowed me to go through a long and not so pleasant process in such a short time. I have now realised that he is ready to use me for his glory. I know that a lot of people will intentionally misinterprete what I have just said. The truth is that, it’s not about anybody else, not even me, but all about God whom we should all live for.
I don't have to be a pastor or minister or evangelist to know that we world we live in, has come to an end, and we are all just waiting for the time that Jesus will come back.

I don't need to tell anyone to go and check the book of revelations before they will see proof of things that are happening all over the world already. Yours truly has started yet another journey, but this time, the right journey and that is to find out more of God, his promises to me, his love for me, my relationship with him, my work for him and my walk with him.

This is the reason why I have decided to carefully choose what I listen to, what I watch, what I read, what I say, what I think about, what I practice, friends I keep, what I teach, what I eat and what I drink. Truth is I have been having a blast in this journey of mine, to the point that people around me have noticed the difference in who I am now.
Most importantly my children are happier now and more mature as they have willingly joined me on this journey.

This is the reason why I am able to look at people and all I want to do is reach out and help. The Stella Damasus Arts Foundation is doing so much for people in the arts now, without sponsorship. God has been my sponsor. He also sent people to make things lighter for me. My work with "Lamboginny Say no to Crime, Project Alert, has also changed the way I see life. The one is started last year is called "Adiva", this is where we bring thousands of young girls together and mentor them, empower and encourage them. We have help lines and you will be amazed at the amount of calls and emails we receive everyday. I cry sometimes when young girls talk about what their fathers, teachers, neighbours etc do to them. Some women have called in fear because of violence from their families.

I also just became a member of a gospel group in Abuja called ONE HEART ONE SOUND, created and founded by Daniel Ademinokan.
We have started a movement of young people who just want to worship and honour God. Showing the world an alternative to negativity through Music, Dance and Drama.
We have a singing competition on the 5th of August and a concert on the 11th of August in Abuja. Lots of prizes to be won including Cash prizes and a free music video.

I am excited with my life right now because I now have even more time to study my craft which is acting not only because I teach it now but because I want to be better. So I hope this answers the question "Does Stella still act"? - Yes she does and even more now. We are editing the short film we shot a few weeks ago titled "WHEN IS IT ENOUGH", based on a true story. I can't wait to share all the new stuff with all of you.

This is just me expressing myself and telling you what I have been up to. So remember that its always better to hear stories from the original source. It makes things easier and clearer.
I will keep you updated with all we are doing. Let me also say a big thank you to all those who have been sending me mails because they love my TV Show "Changing Lives" on the STELLA DAMASUS SHOW.
Thank you for reading my articles and blog; you have really been a blessing to me.
God bless you and we will chat again next week.

  1. Word May fail me in exactly conveying my thouhgts. First, I thank God for the privilledge of meeting a rare gem, and I mean that in every Gusto in my voice. You cease the slightest oppourtunity to always impart and teach. All born out of you vivid experiences. Whenever you speak or post in your blog, you exude high people passion. It is all wrapped up in the word LOVE which you posses in abundance. Another Pertinent thing that stands out for me is your unwavered communication skills and undaunted people skills. I am a witness to the new you and I am glad I met you in my generation.
I would like to tell you that all people can see and are permitted to talk about is our past which is buried and forgotten. They can't talk about our future because God only has it. God is only interested in our present and our future, so I say, people can talk all they want, but they are limited talk about our past which doesn't count. I have so much to learn form you because you are a book that cannot be exhausted because each time you convey a new experience. Thank you for giving to the world.
As Usual, I celebrate you permanently.lol!!

  5. Someone said "I want to be so great, that the President of the United States of America will be in a meeting with me and when his phone rings, he won't be able to take it"
The other answered, "I want to be so great that in that same meeting with the President, when his phone rings, he'll answer it and then hand me the phone saying 'it's for you'"
In my mind, with reference to the story above, you are neither the President or the one in a meeting with him...they both are meeting in your office!
Truly great people don't pull others down because they are not on the floor to start with.
    Thanks for being "You-niquely" U.
    God bless you profusely.

  9. Dear Stella,
This Article is a little old, but I have only just discovered your blog and I am really excited about this. You have been one of my best Nigerian Actresses and I have been looking for a way to tell you this for like forever!!I saw you at an Event in Abuja, December 2012 (KBF's Spelling Bee Competition at Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton, Abuja) and wanted sooo much to speak with you but alas! You left before I got the chance to.
I like what you are doing...you are a beautiful person inside out and it shows in how you act, how you sing (yes I have heard you sing with other Nigerian Stars), how you carry yourself and in how you write.
God bless you and keep you for all the wonderful work you do and will continue to do. Keep using your gift to bring nurture and hope to the World. He who sees your heart and your motives will bless you in His own way.
Thank you for sharing from the depth/wealth of your experiences and what you are doing. I look forward to see you when next you are in Abuja for an event.
I shall follow you on Twitter to ensure I don't miss it.
Thank you for this space to say thank you :-) (Yippeee!!! I finally got to speak to Stella)
