We can all agree that there is a very wrong notion people have of beautiful, classy women which is that they are arrogant, stuck up or cocky. So unconsciously, that is exactly how I felt when she walked up to me and i admit that it was wrong of me to feel that way. And much to my surprise, she was very nice, very friendly, very humble and we ended up exchanging numbers.
Even after I left Ghana, we continued to talk over the phone and we became very close, almost like sisters. We were so comfortable sharing our emotions with each other as well as encouraging each other.

From then on up until today we still keep in touch. We talked about her setting up a clothing store and all the challenges she faced, but Stephanie is a go getter! She doesn’t give up on her dreams and I watched as she grew from making clothes for people, to opening a clothing store and now displaying her collections at Fashion Shows and designing for high class people and celebrities. She even sends clothes to people around the world, she sent quite a few to me which I have worn to different events.
Stephanie is a very talented designer but beyond the work she does, she is a person that is worthy to be celebrated and that is what I am doing today. She is an amazing, beautiful, kindhearted and humble lady. I am so glad that I can call her my sister and friend.

Melanie (Stephanie Owusu Akyaw) is a very driven young lady who was born for fashion and enjoys the support of her close knit family . When this lady sets her mind on achieving something it’s not done till it’s done. At a very tender age all the it was crystal clear that she was destined for fashion. She would scrutinize the fashion sense of family member and as she grew, became a self appointed image consultant for her friends.Though she trained at the prestigious Joyce Ababio Institute, Melanie has always been a natural. Her own fashion sense is impeccable!
Quite reserved in personality and a preference for life in the quiet lane, her desire to be creative has never been diminished as she often foresees fashion trends before they are in vogue.
Melanie is in her twenties and is already well travelled, and has a keen interest in other cultures. This allows her to experiment with styles and fabrics from other countries which keeps her work rich, current and interesting.
Over time, Melanie noticed that people were following trends rather than creating a sense of style for themselves, and that is why she created her Fashion House. At Melanie Crane Couture their motto is "To bring confidence and belief to fashion and style. For ladies to wake up and decide the kind of the day they intend to have from the clothes they wear".
Melanie Crane Couture was created some 4 years ago and has since been creating sexy sassy and sensitive couture to enhance ladies moods and confidence.
It has not been a bed of roses but even roses have thorns and they are ready to take you on their journey. From their flagship outlet on the N1 near Dzorwulu, they are looking to get into every home not just in Ghana, but ECOWAS and beyond.
Her natural sense of achievement means what we see now is the tip off the proverbial iceberg .There is a whole lot more to come from this creative brain and the next time you visit this profile it will be a book.
