EXTRA Ordinary

My grandfather used to organize an annual Christmas celebration when he was alive. We looked forward to it all year round because that was the one time that the whole family could come together. Children and grandchildren, Uncles, Aunties and even the former domestic staff who had left and gotten married.

Anyway, when I was about 5 years old, I heard the word 'EXTRA ORDINARY' for the first time from my grandfather. I had just done a solo performance of "WE THREE KINGS OF ORIENT ARE" a Christmas carol that I don't think people really sing anymore. After singing, my grandfather called me to sit on his lap in front of the whole community and he said, "you are a STAR not just because your name is STELLA which means STAR but because you have 'EXTRA ORDINARY' abilities. Don't loose it no matter how tough it gets”.

Today is my mother’s birthday and just as every child would say, she means the world to me. I mean, really...she means the world. It's her special so I have decided to share with you why this woman is so special.

The Big Brother Diary Room

I don’t watch a lot of reality TV, but the few of them that I watch are for specific reasons not just because i’m looking for entertainment.

One that I used to watch in the past but I stopped watching a long time ago is Big Brother.

I wasn’t watching Big Brother because of its entertainment content, I was watching it because I liked the concept of putting human beings together in a particular place, giving them tasks and seeing it play out.

However, I realised that in the course of my watching Big Brother, the concept of having the diary room where you can actually go and speak to “someone" who is supposed to be "Big Brother” fascinated me.

I am going to be soooooo BAD

I really didn't want to write any blog till next year because I felt it was not necessary. So I woke up this morning and something in my heart said "there is one person out there somewhere who needs confirmation on certain decisions as we approach the new year".
In my head I thought "so"? As I went about preparing for New Year's Eve it occurred to me that some people like me, seriously need God to use the simplest things to confirm what has been in their hearts.
2014 has been a very eventful, dramatic, miraculous, life changing and amazing year for my family and I.

It's been 10 Years

Every morning I open my eyes from sleep, the first words that come to my lips are 'Thank You Lord for the miracle of sleeping and waking up'. I am thankful to God for his grace, his favor, his blessings and also for the privilege he gave me to have had an amazing man in my life who was my friend and husband. JAIYE, today makes it 10 whole years that that you left us here to a better place.

It's been 10 long years without your words of wisdom, your gentle personality and your warm heart. You were a source of strength for me and everybody that came in contact with you. Yes, you left us suddenly but the impact your short life had on this earth will stay with us forever.

I miss you Jay but I know you're in a better place. Thank you for showing me what true love is and for making me know how it feels to truly love and be loved. It is my prayer that people at some point in their lives get to experience someone as great as you.
